SOCIAL NEWS
"Feel a Bag" evening social (17th April) was a fun as ever. Some of the objects (to feel) were quite straight forward but others were cunningly confusing - table top knife sharpener and two strips of staples, selotaped together - to name but a few. Modesty prevents me from mentioning that I was on the winning team! Especially as most of the objects were identified by my team colleagues John & Sarah.
Thanks George, it was a really fun evening.
Next Social event: "Steak & Kidney" night, 15th May at the Halfway House Pub in Brenchley, TN12 7AX. This is always a great evening. Not only is the food delicious (and very reasonably priced - IMHO) but the pub is a charming, wooden beamed building and best of all??? Their offering of beers is second to none.
Please let our social secretary, George, know if you will be attending as he will need to pre-book the tables for us. email: georgeowls@outlook.com or mobile 07796506619
TOURING NEWS
Many members may not be aware but OWLS do organise motorbike tours, as well as day road runs. We have just completed a hugely successful 5 day (28th April - 2nd May) tour to the Normandy Beaches in France, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Staying in the pretty and rural village of Ryes, our base was ideal for “ride-outs” to war grave cemeteries, museums as well as beaches. The country roads we perfect for enjoyable riding with little traffic (outside of the villages), sweeping bends and wooded sections. The weather was extremely kind (as it has been in the UK), almost too hot!

We comprised 7 OWLS members and our guest guide, George, who, with his military background, was ideally placed to research and convey to us just some of the imporant events that took place. There is so much still to discover. Maybe we'll arrange another tour in 2026?
