We are very sorry to say that our friend and long standing member of the Owls club, Brian Hodges, passed away on 15th April following a long illness. It is very sad because Brian was such a character with a great sense of humour and will be sorely missed. We would always find him taking videos at club trials, combines and even National trials over the years and we have missed seeing his cheery face in recent times. We send our condolences to his family especially as this has happened at such a difficult time and there will only be a few close family to be allowed to attend his funeral. However, perhaps we can all get together for a memorial service or an event to remember him by at a later date.
CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT (29TH MARCH 2020)
It is with deep regret that the Club has to curtail activities due to the pandemic but we remain ready and able to resume activities as soon as we are allowed to, so watch this space:
Trials: All Owls trials events are cancelled until further notice.
The AMCA has issued a statement saying that they have cancelled all events until the 14th April. The ACU has issued a statement saying that it has cancelled all events until 31st May. Both organisations have said that they will issue regular statements, it is quite possible that these dates will both be extended. When these bodies issue permits again, we will resume our trials immediately.
Social events: All social events are cancelled until further notice.
Road Runs: All road runs are cancelled until further notice.
When we can resume these, we hope to make Dave Hood's run to Dover our first event.
Committee Meetings: These meetings will be held by email or on Zoom.
The Owler: We will do our best to continue publishing, printing and distributing the Owler. Please send any copy to the Editor please.
We look forward to contacting you with better news, but realistically, have to accept that this cessation of activities may last for some while.
Meanwhile it's a good time to do that bike maintenance that you have been putting off for some time!
